A Portrait of Motherhood and Voice

This commissioned painting was created in collaboration with Justine, a Filipino American writer and mother, to honour a powerful moment in her life; pregnancy, creation, and transformation. The portrait blends intimate storytelling with rich cultural symbolism: white sampaguita and red hibiscus flowers, the mystical vines of the balete tree, and tattoo motifs inspired by ancestral Filipino traditions. Together, we shaped a piece that celebrates motherhood, identity, and the creative force that flows through both.
